Note on new patients: Dr. Kassell’s practice is currently full and she cannot accept new patients. If you’re in the Germantown, Mt Airy or Chestnut Hill neighborhoods of Philadelphia, you can be added to the waiting list; please see the contact information at the bottom of the page. Due to high demand, it may take a couple of weeks for potential new clients to receive a call back. If you have an emergency, please call any of the recommended emergency vets.

Primary Care

Dr. Kassell provides primary care for dogs and cats of all ages. As an integrative veterinarian, she strives to provide a comprehensive medical approach to pet care, combining preventive health care and nutrition with the best of conventional and holistic medicine. In the comfort of your home, she can provide many of the services your pet receives in a veterinary office, including:

  • Guidance in caring for your kitten, puppy, middle-aged or senior dog or cat: this includes all aspects of pet care, from preventive health care to sick pet care, with a focus on nutrition, vaccinations, flea, tick and heartworm prevention, exercise, and ways to limit stress in the home

  • Vaccines: thimerosal- and adjuvant-free whenever possible, following Dr. Jean Dodds’ vaccine protocols

  • In-home heartworm/Lyme disease tests

  • Lab work, including blood work, urinalysis, fecal tests, bacterial and fungal cultures, and cytological studies to determine the nature of skin growths

  • Blood pressure monitoring

  • Prescribing nutritional supplements such as glucosamine, probiotics, omega fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and herbs

  • Prescribing conventional drugs and therapies such as antibiotics, antihistamines, thyroid medications, subcutaneous fluids, blood pressure medications, and appetite stimulants (mindfully and minimally)

  • Geriatric pet support
